Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a physical therapist?
A: Physical therapists are specialists in helping people overcome conditions that prevent normal body motion, including pain, decreased flexibility, weakness, dizziness and imbalance. A physical therapist is the right health professional to see when you have a problem that makes it more difficult for you to perform normal daily activities. Physical therapists will provide hands-on treatment and an individualized exercise program that will help to improve your quality of life. They will also give you the knowledge to keep your body in top shape, for now and the future.

Q: Does Insurance cover Physical Therapy?
A: Most medical insurance plans cover physical therapy, although deductibles, copayments and limitations in number of
visits often apply. In Motion Physical Therapy is a participating provider with most of the major insurance companies, and will help you to determine the level of coverage you have for physical therapy.

Q: What if I don't have insurance?
A: In Motion Physical Therapy will accept patients without insurance coverage. Payment is expected at the time of service unless alternate arrangements are made.
Q: Do you provide individual treatment sessions?
A: At In Motion Physical Therapy, your treatment will always consist of one-on-one sessions with a licensed physical therapist, and you will receive your physical therapist's undivided attention for the duration of the appointment. Regular treatment sessions typically last for 30-60 minutes, based upon your needs, while the initial evaluative visit usually requires 60-90 minutes.
Q: What kind of treatment do you provide?
A: In Motion Physical Therapy provides skilled treatment for most of the problems that require physical therapy. Treatment programs are varied based upon the nature of the problem, and are individually prescribed after a comprehensive examination that includes an assessment of multiple body systems, but typically will include exercises, functional training and patient education, and may include other problem-specific treatment as needed.
Q: Are you trained in any specialized techniques?
A: Our staff have trained extensively in the application of various manual therapy approaches for orthopedic problems, with an emphasis in the osteopathic approach. Some of the techniques used are mobilization/manipulation, muscle energy, neural mobilization, dry needling, and many others. We have also trained in the diagnosis and treatment of dizziness and balance disorders, and can perform treatment maneuvers for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) as well as management for many other vestibular disorders, using Frenzel lenses and other equipment to resolve your problem most effectively.
Q: Do I need a doctor's referral to make an appointment?
A: Patients can be evaluated and treated without a physician's prescription, with certain limitations, as per Ohio state
law. Your physical therapist will determine whether you need to see your doctor before beginning treatment, and will send regular reports to the physician, if you wish. Even with a doctor's referral, it is always up to you to decide which
physical therapist will best serve your needs.
